URGENT LANDLORD UPDATE

(November 2020)

The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020

Further to our notification earlier this year and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it is now clear that the Government is unlikely to extend the deadline of 01st April 2021 for the completion of electrical certification for all rented property in England.

Although we have completed a large number of certifications with restricted access for both tenants and contractors due to isolation and infection it is now an impossible task for us to guarantee completion of all properties by the deadline required using our contractor resources alone. Therefore I must now ask Landlords to source a qualified electrical contractor and have the necessary works completed as soon as possible.

In England, Under the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020, landlords are required to have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested, at least every five years, by a person who is qualified and competent.
